BI Job Description (Non-Exempt FLSA Status)

To provide and document direct behavior support to assigned student(s) by implementing the behavior treatment plan, behavior intervention plan and behavior crisis plan.

Job Duties

Ability and willingness to drive to any school and work with any student within the greater Los Angeles area.

Must have the ability to work with and the skill set to respond appropriately when students engage in severe behaviors. This includes, but is not limited to, excess behaviors such as: hitting, biting, slapping, pulling hair, head butting, kicking, scratching, grabbing, pushing, ripping clothes, punching, and/or internalized self-stimulatory and self-injurious behaviors.

Implement a strategy indicated in the behavior treatment plan, behavior intervention plan, and behavior crisis plan that is authorized by the case supervisor.

Apply company procedures in accordance to Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) to address crisis situations.

Collect required data on target behaviors and skill acquisition goals on a daily basis and submit to the company portal by the end of each work day.

Complete daily time keeping record in the LAUSD Welligent System by the end of each work day.

Attend all mandatory meetings and trainings at the company designated locations.

Must follow all policies and procedures as outlined in the company employee handbook.

Direct all parent questions regarding student's behaviors to the case supervisor.

Direct all parent questions regarding academics to the teacher.

Refrain from providing your personal contact information to parents, caregivers and school personnel.

Update any student absences or late arrivals to the following staff: Scheduler, administrative supervisor, case supervisor and clinical supervisor.

Complete your timesheet, mileage log, and student performance data on the company portal daily by the end of your work day.

Report any incidents (e.g. physical aggression towards peers/adults) involving assigned student to the case supervisor and teacher/school administration. Provide company documentation in accordance with the company policy and procedure handbook.

Check work email daily and respond within 24 hours.

Respond to phone calls/emails/text messages from the company within 24 hours.

As a mandated reporter, call DCFS or police to report any suspicion of child abuse or neglect. Then complete required forms per company policy and procedure handbook.

Other duties as assigned.
Job Skills

Must be punctual.

Must be able to follow a daily schedule. This includes all elements of the treatment plan, behavior intervention plan, behavior crisis plan, and sub plan.

Must have excellent communication skills.

Must be well organized and be able to meet all company deadlines.

Must maintain a strict professional relationship with all company staff, school staff, parents and caregivers.

Must have good computer skills and be able to complete required company documentation on a daily basis.
Job Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalency is mandatory. A Bachelor Degree or higher is preferred.

At least one year of experience working with individuals with autism or other identified special needs is preferred.

Experience working with individuals who have emotional disturbance is preferred.

Must complete mandatory training to support job competency.
Physical Job Requirements

Body positions: sitting, standing and kneeling

Body movements: walking, running, bending and twisting

Body senses: the ability to see, hear and speak articulately, are required.
